Recipe for Unleavened Bread
1 lb Whole wheat flour
1 1/4 teaspoon of Kosher salt
1/2 cup Mazola oil or vegetable oil
1/2 cup butter
1 1/4 lukewarm water
(Preheat oven at 375 degrees)
In a bowl, mix whole wheat flour, and Kosher salt thoroughly. Add the 1/2 cupof oil and 1/2 cup of melted butter and mix well. Stir in 1 1/4 cups oflukewarm water to make a soft dough.
Turn the dough out on a board and knead until the dough has the same color andtexture. Roll the dough out flat like pie crust (slightly thicker); then cutwith a round cutter.
Lay the cut pieces on a ungreased cookie sheet or a sheet cake pan and bake for9-12 minutes or until done. Let cool, serve with bitter herbs on Passover Nightand during High Holy Days of Feast of Unleavened Bread.
Yields 15-16 pieces.
